BayWa r.e. has been made aware of a fake crowdfunding campaign originating in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), which is primarily targeting people within the DRC. This is a scam and has been created by a group of fraudsters impersonating our business. BayWa r.e. has no business interests in the DRC.
A sophisticated so-called ‘Ponzi’ scheme, the fraudsters have developed an app and multiple social media pages. Sadly, we believe many people have lost money.
Our legal and compliance team has taken immediate action and we are in discussions with lawyers and applicable authorities in the effort to close down this scam as quickly as possible. We are also taking proactive measures to alert people via our website, social media and the media.
